We are in the midst of winter, and our skin is definitely starting to feel it. Winter is always accompanied by harsh winds, intense cold, and a longing for the warmer days that spring will bring. And you aren’t the only one yearning for warmer weather; your skin is, too! During the cold, winter months, it’s not unusual for your skin to experience dryness. Luckily, we have a few tips to help you add that extra moisture back into your skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

One of our favorite secret weapons for intense skin moisturization, is hyaluronic acid. A few tiny drops of this packs a huge, hydrating punch. It’s a relatively inexpensive way to supplement your current skincare routine. In addition to promoting increased moisture in your skin, it’s also great for fighting aging and wrinkles, as it tightens up your skin.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is so important in order to make sure that your skin is able to accept any of the moisturizing products you are applying to it. You don’t need to use an intense scrub on your skin every day in order to slough away the dead skin and make way for new, soft skin. A gentle exfoliant will do the trick.

Pick out a thicker moisturizer

During the summer months, you want a lighter moisturizer so you don’t clog your pores. During winter, put that one away, and pull out a thicker moisturizer, instead. Your skin needs all the moisture it can get, so stick with a thick cream for now!

Don’t forget your SPF!

Even though it’s cold outside, it’s important to not forget your SPF on your face! Just because it’s cold, doesn’t mean that the sun can’t damage your skin. Sun damage = more dry skin, which brings us back to the beginning of this article, in search of softer, less dry skin.
