What is Morpheus8?

This skin procedure is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment that utilizes radiofrequency energy (RFE) and microneedling to stimulate collagen production in the skin. Collagen helps tighten skin, giving a refreshed look by reducing the appearance of wrinkles or sagging. And while collagen is naturally produced in the body throughout our lives, sometimes it can benefit from a boost in the form of treatments or supplements.

How Does Morpheus8 Work?

During your treatment(s), microneedles puncture up to 8mm into the surface layer of the skin, which triggers the body’s healing response. Additionally, RFE is transmitted to subdermal layers of skin to trigger collagen production, resulting in smoother, tighter skin.

The results of Morpheus8 can last between 12 and 18 months without a touchup.

What to Expect at Morpheus8 Appointment

After your Morpheus8 consultation, you’ll know how many appointments are recommended for your areas of concern. Typically, patients require at least one treatment but may need up to three.

Before your appointment, avoid sun exposure and keep the skin clean. Don’t wear any makeup to your appointment as topical numbing cream will be applied first thing. You’ll have up to 60 minutes to relax while the numbing cream takes effect.

Once your skin is numb, the Morpheus8 procedure can take 1 to 2 hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. The microneedling and RFE heat may create sensation in the skin, but the numbing cream should prevent it from being a painful procedure.

How is Morpheus8 Different Than Other Microneedling Treatments?

Morpheus8 is a non-ablative microneedling treatment, meaning it does not remove the top layer of skin. Instead, it targets deeper layers with heated radiofrequency energy to promote new collagen production. There is no thermal damage to the skin with Morpheus8 treatment.

While ablative techniques can offer great results, they may not be the best procedure for you. Some patients do prefer the one-and-done convenience that ablative microneedling can provide, while others don’t mind needing multiple non-ablative treatments to achieve similar results.

Let’s discuss the different microneedling treatments offered at Barr and determine the best one for the results you want.
