When to Use Our Products

The products we offer at Barr Aesthetics can be a part of your daily skincare routine. They are meant to hydrate, illuminate, and soften your skin while emphasizing your natural beauty.

Frequently Asked Questions About Skincare

In addition to our spa services, Barr Aesthetics also offers many products to help you maintain a constant state of rejuvenation in-between visits. Like our services, these skin care products are based on traditional spa techniques, but enhanced by modern medical technology and research.

For a product to be classified as professional, it’s developed specifically for skin clinics, spas, or physicians’ offices. They’re not mass-produced in large batches, so quality control is better, and the products must pass rigorous clinical testing.

To be considered medical grade, skin care products must contain 99.9% pure ingredients as regulated by the FDA

First, determine what skin type you have. The most common skin types are normal, dry, oily, and combination.

  • Normal – No problem areas
  • Dry – Skin feels tight or is flaky
  • Oily – Skin appears shiny all over
  • Combination – Only your T-zone is oily or shiny

Solutions for your skin type will target your problem areas. Combination skin requires a balanced formula that can address both dryness and oil. Oily skin needs products that are gentle to avoid promoting oil overproduction.

Dry skin needs cleansers that remove makeup and dirt without also removing moisture. Normal skin requires products that promote the skin’s natural balance.

Not sure which you are or what to choose? We can help.

Although you may not see any signs of aging in your 20s, you can start using anti-aging products this young. These products often contain retinol and hyaluronic acid which, when used routinely, can reduce the appearance of aging and appear to slow the process.

The active ingredients are the ones doing the most work in your skincare products. Here’s what we’re seeing in some of the most popular and effective products.

  • Alpha-hydroxy Acids (AHAs) – Skin brightener that boosts skin cell renewal. Also targets hyperpigmentation and fine lines.
  • Copper Peptide – Boosts collagen and elastin production.
  • Hyaluronic Acid – A humectant that plumps skin and improves moisture.
  • Retinoids (Retinol) – Stimulates collagen and elastin production.
  • Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) – Skin brightener that protects from UV rays, free radicals, and pollution.

You may need a combination of products and methods to combat acne, especially depending on what’s causing it. Your skin may respond differently to over-the-counter products vs prescribed products. Consulting with an esthetician can help you figure out the best acne treatment.

Topical products that include retinoids may help reduce wrinkles. Still, non-surgical procedures like those offered here at Barr are some of the best remedies: laser skin resurfacing, Botox, and chemical peels.

Treat under eyes with cold compresses, lots of hydration, and eye creams or serums that include Vitamin K and caffeine. Dermatologist-recommended procedures include laser therapy, chemical peels, and injectable fillers.

Face washing is recommended at least twice per day.

What SPF should I use on my face?

Use an SPF of at least 30 on your face every day. According to the American Cancer Society, SPF 30 can block up to 97% of UVB rays. SPF protection is even more important for sensitive skin.

What Our Clients Say

Dr Lucy Barr did my rhinoplasty in April of this year and I’m over the moon with how amazing it is. Every step of the process was painless and I was given excellent care by her, her husband (Dr Sharma did my functionality surgery at the same time) and her staff. My results exceed my expectations. I’m so pleased!

Kozy

As for the laser treatment itself? Perfect. Talking to friends who have done the same procedure at other places, I was smart to have chosen Barr. The results are better than I even expected. If I ever need anything else that they can do for me, you bet I’ll be back in their office.

David Farrison

I beyond enjoyed my experiences coming in for over a year to get laser hair removal.
