Laser Treatment Hair Removal

Hair can be beautiful, interesting, fun, elegant, and unique, but only when it can be controlled. For unwanted hair in hard-to-maintain areas, hair stops being a positive aspect of one’s outward identity and becomes an unsightly aspect of appearance.

Laser Hair Removal from Barr Aesthetics

Depending on the color, thickness, and speed of regrowth, body hair can quickly become a nuisance. In the past, there was little that could be done to find a permanent hair removal solution; shaving, tweezing, and waxing were the only options.

Not only can we remove unwanted hair, but our laser treatments also work on almost every surface of your body, leaving the skin feeling smooth

  • Face

  • Back
  • Legs

Am I A Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

While laser hair removal is safe for nearly anyone, it is most effective on dark, coarse body hair. It hasn’t been known to be as effective on darker skin or lighter hair. Results are best when hair is currently in its growth, or anagen, stage. This is why we recommend multiple treatments to effectively remove unwanted hair.

Laser hair removal isn’t recommended for people who are pregnant or currently taking acne medication. Also, you may want to explore other hair removal options if you have raised scars with hair growth.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

It may sound strange, but it is recommended that you shave the treatment area 2 – 3 days before you come in for laser hair removal at Barr. This puts hair in its regrowth stage, and at the right length (no longer than a grain of rice) for treatment.

We also recommend protecting your skin from the sun to keep your skin from tanning or burning before your treatment. The number of treatments you need will depend on your skin pigmentation and the texture of your body hair. Typically, the best results are achieved after six short sessions. While the methods are sound, every person is different, with different needs. These are things we’ll discuss at your consultation.

What to Expect at a Laser Hair Removal Appointment

As with everything we do at Barr Aesthetics, our tools and techniques have been developed under the guidance of peer-reviewed medical journals and have been personally vetted by their representatives. All of our equipment has received the highest ratings possible for effectiveness and safety. During a hair removal procedure, our lasers target the hair directly at the root, destroying the follicle completely. And because they can target larger areas of the affected skin, our treatments can be carried out efficiently and quickly.

Our lasers come equipped with a patented cooling device that delivers consistent cooling to the treated area, making the entire procedure far more comfortable than it has been in the past, as well as eliminating the need for a topical anesthetic.

Before administering treatment, we’ll clean the area and give you protective eyewear. It might feel like a rubber band being snapped against your skin during treatment, which could last anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour.

Caring For Your Skin After Laser Hair Removal

After laser hair removal, we don’t recommend plucking or shaving any of the areas that have been treated. Side effects include redness, swelling, or tenderness in treatment areas.

We do recommend icing the treated area after your appointment and avoiding sunlight and tanning beds. After your prescribed number of laser hair treatments, you should be able to enjoy the results for months, if not years before needing touch-ups.

Hair that grows back after laser treatments is usually thinner and lighter than your natural hair color.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?

Regardless of how many treatments are required, we offer several different ways to pay for the procedure; each visit can be covered individually or in one of our helpful treatment packages. Additionally, we offer a discounted price for any touch-ups once the initial sessions have finished.

Pricing depends on the size of the area being treated, with small areas such as the upper lip or chin costing less than large areas such as arms and back.

Is Laser Hair Removal Covered by Insurance?

You won’t typically find laser hair removal is covered by insurance, but we’re happy to provide you with the necessary receipts that you can submit to your insurance provider.
