Remembering Dr. Lucy Barr

A Legacy of Care, Artistry, and Adventure

With deep sadness, we remember Dr. Lucy Barr, founder of Barr Aesthetics, who passed away on August 28, 2026. To those who knew her as Lucy Barr Sharma, she was a beloved member of a family and community whose love surrounded her through the months following her April cycling accident.

At Barr Aesthetics, her loss is deeply personal. Her name is part of our practice, and her approach to caring for people remains part of its foundation. We honor the life she lived and the difference she made.

Care Guided by an Artist’s Eye

Dr. Barr founded her practice in 2008 with a commitment to patient wellbeing and results that respected each person’s natural beauty. She understood the trust involved in seeking aesthetic care. Listening to a patient’s concerns mattered. So did helping them understand their options before deciding on treatment.

Her work brought together medical knowledge and an artist’s attention to detail. She described being drawn to the meeting of art and science, a connection that helped shape her career in facial plastic surgery.

That approach became known within the practice as “the Barr touch.” It reflected a belief that a thoughtful result begins with attention to the person receiving care.

A Career Rooted in Service

Lucy Barr, MD, earned her medical degree at Oregon Health and Science University. She completed her surgical internship and residency at the University of Utah, followed by a fellowship certified by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She became Utah’s first female board-certified facial plastic surgeon.

Her commitment to helping others also took her beyond her own practice. Through humanitarian work abroad, she provided surgical and medical care to people in need. Her service included repairing cleft palates and scar deformities. Closer to home, she also cared for people affected by violence.

Those contributions are an important part of how we remember her.

A Love of Life Outdoors

Lucy’s family described someone who found joy on a bicycle and on skis. She was curious about where an unfamiliar trail might lead and was willing to stop for a sunset along the way. She encouraged others to get outside and try something new.

These details offer a glimpse of the person beyond the physician. Adventure was part of how she spent time with people she loved. There was always another place to explore and another reason to step outdoors.

The Community Around Lucy

Following her cycling accident in April, Lucy and her loved ones received extraordinary support. Her family’s account describes practical help alongside messages of encouragement. People showed up in ways that helped carry them through an unimaginably difficult time.

We are grateful to everyone who stood beside Lucy and her family. Our hearts are with her husband, Pramod, and their children. We also hold close everyone grieving her absence.

Remembering Our Founder

For our Barr Aesthetics team, honoring Dr. Barr means keeping her care for patients at the heart of our work. It means taking time to listen and respecting the trust people place in us.

If Lucy was part of your life, we invite you to take a moment to remember what you shared with her. It may be an experience in her care or a day spent outdoors together. Those memories belong to the people who knew her, and each is part of the life we honor.

We will miss her. We are grateful for all she gave.
