Eye and Forehead Lift Options from Barr

Barr Aesthetics offers two primary surgical procedures to rejuvenate the upper face:

  • Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty): Surgically corrects drooping upper eyelids and puffy lower eyelids by removing excess skin, muscle, and fat.
  • Brow Lift (Forehead Lift): Corrects a heavy, furrowed, or low-sitting brow line to create a more alert and youthful appearance.

Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty): Correcting the Eyes of Fatigue

How Damage Occurs: Aging, sun exposure, and gravity cause the delicate eyelid skin to stretch, muscle tissue to weaken, and fat to bulge, leading to a tired or sad appearance.

Procedure Details:

  • For upper lids, incisions are hidden within the natural crease of the lid. For lower lids, incisions are often placed just below the lash line or inside the lid (transconjunctival).
  • The procedure involves removing excess skin and fat and tightening the remaining tissue.
  • The surgery is typically done under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.

Outcome and Recovery:

  • Downtime varies, but patients can typically return to light activities within 7-10 days.
  • The final result is a brighter, more refreshed, and alert appearance to the eyes.

Brow Lift: Lifting and Smoothing the Forehead

How Damage Occurs: Over time, the forehead muscles weaken, and the brow descends, creating deep lines, furrows (frown lines), and pushing excess skin onto the upper eyelids.

Procedure Details:

  • Incisions are typically placed inconspicuously within the hairline or just at the anterior hairline.
  • The goal is to tighten the skin and soft tissues of the forehead, raising the brow to a more natural, youthful position.
  • Dr. Barr may utilize endoscopic (small incisions) or coronal (longer incisions) techniques, depending on the patient’s specific anatomy and goals.
  • The procedure may take one to five hours.

Outcome and Recovery:

  • Swelling and bruising generally subside within 1-2 weeks.
  • The outcome includes smoother forehead lines, a more alert eye area, and a significant improvement in the appearance of frown lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need a Brow Lift?

Candidates for a brow lift may experience the following symptoms:

  • A sagging brow line
  • Wrinkles across your forehead or between your brows
  • A heavy or tired-looking appearance in your upper face

If we see these characteristics in your consultation, a brow lift could be a good option for you. A brow lift raises the eyebrows, smooths out forehead lines, and can give your face a more alert and youthful look.

You may be a good candidate for an eyelid lift if you observe the following:

  • Excess skin on your upper eyelids
  • Puffiness under your eyes
  • A feeling of heaviness in your eyelids

An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty may be the solution for these symptoms. An eyelid lift removes excess skin and fat, reduces puffiness, and can make your eyes look brighter and more open.

The estimated average cost of a forehead lift is between $2,500 and $19,000. This price varies based on whether you opt for just the brow lift, just the eyelid lift, or combine the two. Additionally, the cost varies if you opt for both an upper and lower eyelid lift. Let’s discuss your options at a consultation.

It is not guaranteed that insurance will cover a brow or eyelid lift procedure. However, droopy eyelids that interfere with vision may be eligible for coverage. Please discuss your options with your insurance provider.
