Once extracted, the donor follicles are transplanted to the thinning area of the scalp. Once placed, the donor follicles continue in their normal growth cycle, creating a full, natural-looking, and self-sustaining head of hair.

The FUT technique is sometimes also known as the “strip” method or strip grafting since the follicles are harvested from a strip of the removed tissue. This often leads to more effective harvesting, allowing dense transplant placement over a wider area.
