Upper Face
A youthful and rested appearing face is supported in the upper half. Restoring optimal brow height and shape helps frame the eyes.
The youthful triangle descends with age resulting from loss of bone and soft tissue support and well as a decrease in the quality of the skin with loss of collagen, elastin and hydration leading to undesirable wrinkles at rest.
What Happens?
Bones and Aging
With age, we lose bone mass, even in our face. We can lose the prominence of our brow bone and bone in our orbit creating a tired and hollow look around our eye.
Muscles and Aging
Repetitive expressions (muscle movements) impact the way we age. They can affect the contour of our brows and the wrinkles in our forehead, frown area and around our eyes leading to chronic expression of fatigue, sadness or concern.
Fat Pads and Aging
As we age, fat pads atrophy (get thin) and lose support. As a result our face may not look as supple, firm, and supported as it did in our youth
How do we treat it?
Advances in facial aesthetics allow us to restore the triangle of youth while maintaining a natural look. Dr. Barr likes to break aging down into 3 categories:
- Volume Loss (bone and fat)
- Tissue sagging
- Skin wrinkling
Everyone ages differently and treatment suggestions will be customized for each patient during consultation. Our patients don’t want to look ‘done’ or different. Just refreshed. The goal of treatment is not to make you look like you ‘had something done’ but rather to make you look more rested, less upset or concerned or just refreshed.
By addressing the components of aging in a balanced way, we can obtain these goals without causing a distorted or unnatural appearance
Skin Treatments
Skin treatments can range from creams and serums that tighten and hydrate the skin or diminish puffiness, to lasers that tighten skin or diminish the appearance of vessels (Nd-Yag, Vbeam, cautery), or chemical peels that can tighten, brighten and smooth the skin. These treatments are tailored to treat the severity of condition.

Temples and Around the Eyes
Hollow temples and loss of brow projection are often overlooked. You will see many overdone cheeks out there that don’t blend properly to the temple and the rest of the face making them look out of place. Replacing volume in these areas opens the eye and restores a more rested appearance to the eye and more support to the face helping to create the inverted triangle of youth. Filler, fat or implants can be used.

Upper Cheeks
The addition of volume (fillers, fat grafts, implants) help restore the triangle of youth by adding or restoring support to the cheeks. With the artistic and skillful professionals at Barr aesthetics, we can augment your facial structure and improve volumetric support creating natural, supported and lifted appearance.
